I am smashing the shít out of this running stuff lately.

But not losing any more weight http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/rubchin.gif
I think it will be easier if I was a bit lighter, less to carry round sort of thing.

No really, I am 32. And although I have lost a lot of weight this year, I am still a big built guy so am not streamlined for running...

I've only been running for the last 10 months or so but have had massive gaps in that due to 2 operations.

10/9 - 21 miles
17/9 - 23 miles
24/9 - 16 miles
1/10 - 10 miles
8/10 - 8 miles
15/10 - 10 miles

The first couple of weeks I was off work so able to do a lot more. I think 10 miles a week is about average for me at the moment.

Too hard on all the joints. I reckon I can increase my distances though, that is my aim... Longest I have done so far is 11km. I wanna do a half marathon in the next month or so.

years to get gradually quicker as its more to do with just keeping up faster average pace..also i found for good few years jints did hurt etc but got through it..first run over 5 or so miles was 10 km off road Hellrunner thing that killed me, then did a few 5 hour run (2hr ),(2hr) m ountain bike and (1hr) canoe things over about year n half..then just did more n more running ( keep up weight training to thoguh!)

did first half marathon 3 yrs ago - 1 hour 52, then 2 yrs ago 1 hr 39 then last yr 1 hour 32 min..and do about 30 to 40 miles a week but just add average pace of 8.30 to 9.30 min miles or 10 min miles when hung over..furthest ever run is 19 miles just to see how far i could go..but took no water and was hot day..nearly died http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/smile.gif

Ultimately I want to run a marathon. Have wanted to since I was a boy. I am in no rush to do though.

I want to do Rob Roy challenge as well, 16 mile run followed by 39 mile cycle ride. We enter a team each year at work for it so I'd love to join in.

things and chat before and local pubs busy after etc..i get quite into them and as soon as you book one ( make sure it more than 4 months away!) then it makes training simple.

as you said no rush and takes time but ive gone from 85 kgs to down to 72 kg which was too light now around 75-77kgs which is just right and feel fit plus strong..72 just felt fit http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/smile.gif

I can get out of the office for a bit 2-3 times a week to go to the gym but can only really get 5km in like I did today, plus some weights.

Then I am trying to do a long run (10km) on a Sunday morning. And I play football on a Saturday.

I'd like to do it all without it impacting too much on my normal life as well if that makes sense. So I think it's hard to see where I get to 20 miles a week at the moment...

Saying all of that though, I'll see where it all takes me, I'm enjoying seeing my average HR decrease for running at the same pace currently.

10 minute miles used to be 155 for me, now it is 140. Getting that down is the key to being able to run longer distances imo.

after the op'.... knee feels a bit better but not sure if the pain is from the op or if it still isn't right

Some guys here cycle to work though, that is always an option I guess.

Running only does so much of the work.

I do 3k in about 17 minutes so would be looking at nearly half an hour for 5 k. Not bothered about getting quicker really, just happy i can still cover the distance

Really hard to know if the pain is okay pain or worrying pain. I still haven't played a competitive game of football yet so haven't tested my groin fully. I can still 'feel' it, but he says that will be for 3-4 months. It's one thing having the stregth there to do weights in the gym, a whole different thing to enter the challenge of competitive battle.

Today I was doing a bit in intervals, up to 12.5 and down as low as 8 to recover.

Its amazing how quickly the weight goes back on if you miss the gym for a week or two

But half an hour running f**ks me up so much i havent got any energy left.

I find the weights and resistance machines are much better for body shape than just running. f**king boring though....

I enjoy running outdoors, taking in a nice view and seeing the world go past a bit quicker than when I am walking.

I used to hate running too and always went on the cross trainer but I've got into it. I tried running next to Neg once. Never again.

I have to be careful not to run near people like that, I can't help but turn it into a race/competition. I wonder if they know I am looking at their screen...
