I agree that he's not your classic winger, though.
Always works hard and has good close control.

They played well together but no big deal.
Plus add the English factor to it and people started acting silly.
the ability to actually control the ball seems beyond the majority of our players

but if managers like Hodgson, Capello and Mancini continue to pick him, he's clearly doing something to impress them.
Probably a good 'defensive winger', whatever that is. Or something like that anyway.

Real and especially Barca lack depth at centre half.
Chelsea strikers.
Utd midfielders (goalkeeper a bit undecided too) and City at centre half too.
