If I check in for a flight on-line the day before, print out the boarding pass and do the bag-drop thing, how early do I have to turn up at the airport for the flight?

If there is a queue at security, just go to the front and ask someone to let you in, complaining that your taxi was late or whatever and that you need to make your flight.
