I hope this isn't true

Arsenal's bad luck during internationals has seemingly returned, with Laurent Koscielny apparently carried off the pitch during training with a "serious" knee injury, caused by a collision with deformed human being Franck Ribery.

Bad news for Arsenal. Laurent Koscielny left France training session with a knee injury. Looks serious. He had to be carried out of the pitch

Koscielny was one of Arsenal's best players last season, quite often preventing an already weak and open Arsenal defence from being utterly overrun. Kosicleny had only started three games this season, looking shaky against Cheslea, and alright against Manchester City and Olympiacos. He scored, of course, the equalising goal against Manchester City, and then in the next minutes presented Sergio Aguero with a golden chance to win the game, and also did a nifty backheel out of defence. He was partially at fault for both of Chelsea's goals, and was subsequently dropped for last Saturday's game against West Ham.

Despite that, Koscielny is still a very good centre back and still a vital part of Arsene Wenger's team. If he's seriously injured, it brings us one step closer to Sebastien Squillaci, and that's never a good thing.

Once again, internationals are really, really stupid.

for no contact in training sessions? Or do defenders need to hone their tackling skills or something? Seems counter productive that especially at club level a tackle could rule out one of your players (assets) for a while.

is that not hugely frustrating for Real? "Easier" to accept if these things happen in the line of duty in a competitive match.

landing after a jump.

You can hit your own knee as hard as you like, you'll do well to do any ligament damage. Try twisting it a bit and you've got a much better chance.

but what JJSB is suggesting would be like sending in your openers to face Steyn and Morkel having just faced a few throwdowns during the week

training is the preferable place for it. An in injury the match is a massive disruption, at least you can plan ahead
