View Full Version : Monty - any chance on elaborating on what you meant by 'hypocritical, relativist chattering classes'

in the context of Savile abusing his power?

I know the phrase, or variants thereof, is very popular with some elements of the hundred-grand-a-year-for-one-hours-work-a-week commentariate but I always suspect it is being deployed to pad out the word count rather than conveying any real meaning.

Spiked published a far better critique of the Savile reaction than Monty managed. The key question being "who benefits?".

I'm sure you know what is meant by chattering classes. I was responding to your point that the main concern is that Savile took advantage of his charitable position.

In general, my objection is with the type of people who have a habit of feigning concern about white collar misdemeanours to make it sound like they are politically/socially aware and have a social conscience.

"Relativist" in this instance I suppose I meant in terms of moral relativism, which I think has been evident in much of the discussion I've heard about Savile.

find at least three major flaws in all of his pieces.

Good writer, but how is he with picture captions, eh? EH?!

their answer was "nobody". One might argue with that, and I would, but it was their position, and nothing to do with a conspiracy.

Anyway, if mossad ruled the world, there wouldn't have been a western-backed 'Arab Spring' (which to your credit you've seen through as a load of *******s).

was precisely the demographic to which you aspired.

Also, if moral relativism involves tolerating the (lack of) morality of others I don't see how that squares with being fairly relaxed about blokes who want to f**k minors, especially if there's the chance to insert the adjective 'consenting'.
