View Full Version : I'm confused. I thought we were having a good start but we appear to be behind both Manchesters, Spu

Just wait until those three have to play in the Arctic too. We will be fine. Guaranteed 60 points from the next 20 games now those toughies are out of the way.

As someone said recently, for all the hype about Arsenal we've won just two league games! Hard run of fixtures admittedly.

optimism that we're good enough to stay in the top four in spite of losing our best player is jusified, based on the evidence so far.

our most recently departed best player, in view of him having what is commonly known as "no game".

Personally I'm not sure how you can measure these things. I'm certainly not clever enough to do so.

It would be one hell of a team, on paper at least.

we'd be a further 3 points better off.

How we could be deemed to be weaker as a result of van Persie’s continued employment with the club is beyond me.

I know it’s only a matter of weeks since we were heralding Podolski as the new left footed goal sensation and asking ‘Robin who?’ but that was all a bit silly and generally high spirits.

If we had retained some of the top class talent that left in recent years then we probably wouldn’t have some or all of the new indispensable heroes we now have. If we did then they wouldn’t all fit on the piece of paper.

champions of Europe and struggled for a half against the champions of France. Against this we looked good enough against the champions of England, but despite defending better in open play we are still vunerable at set pieces and not very good at taking our chances. We have a fantastic midfield but if they're off the boil we suck.

Not for this man allowing what I thought was a below par performance all round on Saturday deflect from what has been a very encouraging start to the season.

I would perhaps take issue with Monty’s earlier assertion that we cannot compete for the title as I genuinely don’t see why not. We lost on Saturday to a very god team but the defeat was helped by very poor defending from the likes of Vermaelen and poor finishing by Giroud, small things that can hopefully be improved.

Our lack of real title challenging in recent seasons has not been a direct result of losing to the top sides, moreso silly results against the so called ‘lesser’ sides.

Perhaps we shouldn't have lost it, but we certainly didn't deserve to win. I also don't think Chelsea were as bad as many people said.

I notice that Santi had been reading you posts and has swapped his feeble pearollers for wild blasters.

We are set up to attack, in personnel and philosophy. Apparently at Anfield Gibbs, on average across the 90 minutes, was further forward than Podolski!

The trick is that in games where we concede weak goals (which we always will) we're good enough going forward and infront of goal to at least not lose the game.

I would respectfully suggest that at that time we are set up to defend.

Your claim which has merits still doesn't fully explain the goals conceded in recent games.
