Wrt players being friends, lving in the same neighbourhood etc - that's no different than other sports. Arsenal's French players are very happy to beat Mertesacker in the World Cup despite being teammates and friends. http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/hehe.gif
Your comments about fans cheering when the opponent hits the ball in the lake - fair enough, I thought about it myself yesterday and I think the players should handle that for this one competition.
