and was struck at how similar she and I are. Both tortured souls. Musically on another level to most others with a touch of genious about us. It brough back some memories for me. I wrote my first song at the age of 12 after listening to some of my Mums old records. The song I wrote was called "Rock around my Green Door" and was admittedly a rip of "Rock around the clock" By Bill Hayley and "Green Door" by Shakin Stevens.
I dont recall the exact lyrics but it went something like
Later tonight in an hour or so
Im gonna put on my boots and my jeans worn low
Then as it gets dark dark dark
We can rock rock rock
Around My Green Door, around my Green Door
Yeh Yeh Yeh
My Green Door, My Green Door
I think it repeated a few times with the chorus and there was a bit more but you get the jist. Anyway I remember running downstairs and told my Dad I had just written a song and was going to sing it to him. So I sung it to him. He sat there looking puzzled at me and laughed saying it was ok but not great. I felt humiliated and upset. He always put me down. The worst part is not long after that he strolled into the living room with his suitcase and announced he was leaving. Very emotional time and I presumed for a long time it was down to my Song which tipped him over the edge.
But thats history now and after watching Janis, I am ready to write some songs again. I have loads of Lyrics and melodies at my disposal and maybe I will post them here for you to enjoy before forwarding them to the Music Industy top brass.
