It's a contrived, made for TV, event designed to whip up false emotions. It's sole purpose is to try and make golf relevant in a very crowded sporting calendar.
I mean, really. I only see that Euro flag once every two years. And that "USA USA" stuff has long since become a parody of itself. The patrons are plied with liquor and whipped up by cheap, false patriotism, solely for the TV show.
Trust me, folks, both sets of fans are just as bad on both sides of the pond. You're just not hearing or reading what is said about your fans over here. It's what the Sport Of Golf wants.
When you stop to consider that Luike Donals is more of the hometown boy here in Chicago than Bubba Watson, dustin Johnson, or definitely Tiger Woods -- you realize the folly in getting all worked up about this.
I'm also a bit disappointed that I didn't get a full measure of http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/fishing.gif in this time. You guys all leapt into the boat on your own!
