I sense that a few years ago it was sort of ignored by most of us.
as it was more the kids and very few first teamers in action.

But the past few years Wenger has put out a stronger side and more of a mixture. I am not suggesting that the League cup is still anything more than a 'Micky Mouse' cup.

But perhaps now it's more interesting to observe these games.

It allows us to put out a stronger side in the competition.

and whilst wanting us to win, I don't get so uptight and angry when watching it.

As you say less pressure on the game so you can enjoy it.

In general the games are quite exciting too.

Why, in that season, did someone think it was a good idea to stage the 3rd Round F.A. Cup games before Christmas?

it was quite a good away day

We used to go to the same pub in a little village just outside Coventry back in those days. The landlord (who was also a gooner) used to throw down the keys to the bar when we arrived so we could let ourselves in and start drinking (keeping a rough count of what we had!!).

On this particular day, he had given the restaurant staff the day off, when we told him we were coming up he made us a big pot of curry which went down a treat after a few pints.

It was an evening kick off as well if memory serves me right.

Beer, curry, keys to the pub etc, especially on a Boxing Day.

It was an evening game and almost certainly a live one.

we were gutted when Coventry were relegated.

Mind you, it worked both ways. We smashed a load of money across the bar on those days out, and also used to sort him out tickets a couple of times a season.

One year we took a full double decker bus up there, the pub was full at about 10am.
