Is it worth sleeping on the street for a new mobile phone?

People like those who live on the street for several days just to be first in line to get a new fangled cell phone fascinate me. Any of you Awimbers know someone who would do this? Except for this stupid behavior are they usually normal types?

I suppose it makes them happy, although I don't know why. Is it because they feel better than everyone else to get thing first? I can understand the rush for a bargain in a sale, even though I couldn't do it myself, but applemania is something else.
