a year.......which is about £800k

meaning if you make more than £65k a month....you will be left with £20k

how can this happen in a democratic state? 75% of your money will be taken force......how is that different from the Soviet union?

Jesus wept

Still I agree it is a bit silly on the surface though of course people will always find ways round it or just move abroad. The clever accountants are in the pay of the rich not the treasury. Loopholes ahoy

That would be 80% http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/smile.gif

So, just saved 50 grand. Quids in http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/homer.gif

Asking me to feel sorry for someone with that much money is bad enough. But they are also bloody french.

As with other taxation schemes there will be bands and the highest rate would only be payable only on earnings above a ceiling level.

It's a bit f**king stupid to think a ¤1m earner is only going to take home a quarter of it, French or not.

That went well.

Steve Williams - gay for Mark Knopfler

It was a small amount and we are in general an honest nation.

Pretty ridiculous statement to make in the first place in theabsence of any reference to where the money is going.

one thing most Europen countries do not do....is tax transnational companies....enough.

they should heavily tax companies that settle in Asia....produce on the cheap over there and make money from us.....rather than tax small businesses to death.

give tax breaks to domestic companies....and heavy taxes on multinational companies....this is the way forward imo....but for some reason politicians are scared of making such decisions...its easier to increase tax on the domestic working man

Peter

"they should heavily tax companies that settle in Asia"

Not specifically Asia you understand, just abroad in general.

I always the concept of moving production to these places was to take advantage of huge savings in costs other than simplt taxation.

you're right its a coast saving move....but heavy taxation on these multinationals would force them to bring back production and kick start the faltering domestic economies in Europe

For the society as a whole, taking into account the "lost" work from rich people who don't have the incentive to do whatever to earn more money for themselves.

The numbers show that society is stronger with more people at the middle than a few really rich at the top. Marginal tax rates like this just create the structure for this to happen.

in the business through R&D, worker training, upgrading capital equipment etc. Here in America, post Regan's slashing of taxes on high-end, we saw skyrocketing executive pay - which was money that previously went back into the business, leaving the business to line individual's pockets.
