Liverppol is an incredibly vibrant, cultured city that gets an incredidly bad press -

it is like the Naples of England in many ways. I consider it the only real challenge to London's domniancy as a world city within Britain; and if you want real self-pity look to Glaswegians instead of scousers. Scousers have a great sense of self that is not neanderthal like the no-brow Manc sense of self. I applaud the dignity and perseverance of the Liverpool families and their fight for justice. Well done them, I say. Speaking as someone who lost a loved one in difficult circumstances I know first hand how much strength in grief it takes to push through for justice.

I applaud the city of Liverpool - a worthy adversary to London; a worthy rival to Arsenal. Southerners tend to dislike Scousers for all the reasons that northern fans of football dislike the Arsenal - because of the threat to the hegemony they represent.
