Everyones happy Liverpool fans weren't to blame and their behaviour not in question.
Now for the inquest into Heysal.

into a pen that was obviously overcrowded and dangerous?

Surely the sensible thing to do for your own safety and others, is turn back? (I accept that this may not have been possible for some caught up in the tide)

with no incident, those numbers could have got into the away end. How could they assume, as the report does, that there were no significant number of fans without tickets? Having seen the number of ticketless scousers outside the Millenium stadium in 2001 I find it hard to imagine no scousers without tickets turning up at hillsbourough..

I've done that myself. Stamford Bridge. It was so crowded, I refuse to believe that it was safe.

I asked a police officer for the directions to "the Shed". He advised me not to go there, as I appeared to be a fragile tourist. Meaning, the local apes he didn't care much about.

had turned back and warned people and they marched straight past.

I'm sure many who walked in were simply not aware, but surely there were also many who were? And do they not bear some responsibility?

If I was at a football game and was told by a single person that it was looking pretty dangerous ahead, I'm pretty sure I would turn back. Why take the risk?

That's because I'm a responsible adult http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/shrug.gif

There was a massive surge of fans with 15 mins before ko.The situation outside was getting dangerous where the impending disaster could have happend at the entrance gates. In hindsight the Police were to blame for not managing the situation but I find it ridulous how Liverpool fans exonorate themselves from any factors leading up to the disaster.

Being stuck in a big crowd wasn't that unusual, people expected it. Even I did as a 14/15 year old. It's not black and white, especially when most just wanted to see a semi-final that had already kicked off

They had been there the year before and probably experienced the same cramped conditions. They didn't realise the situation they were in, this time round.

People woud not realise how dangerous te situation really was until it was too late. I think the Kop at Anfield was particularly crowded.

And hundreds of hours of footage. Like you, I too thought there was some culpability by fans, but this report exonerates them and I'll take their word for it over my own half-baked prejudices.

overcrowded pen would not, if circumstances conspired, result in death and injury.

And the fact that no football fan would allow themselves in that situation again tells you that they have learnt their lesson just as the authorites have too.

that was the problem with grounds that had seats above terracing back then with a tunnel type entrance, you didn't know how crowded the terrace was until you were on it, and neither did the people following you.

The lack of gates in the side fences of the pens also stopped people filtering into the emptier areas of terracing once the over crowding started.
