As revealed by PHW in the Evening Standard interview yesterday. That's an approximate 9 to 10 million repayment per season over 25 years

It was 360 million to start with but they have offset some of it with restructuring and the property deals or something like that

As we were led to believe that the sum was to be paid off over 17 years, I think?

I know there are rules with Islington council on how many non football events they can hold but surely they can be paid off.

the same as a football club actually having no money.

The two are completely different, in fact.

possibly 150 million in the bank. And new sponsorship deals to come too. If we don't start investing more on the pitch think I'll be joining Floyd's next protest http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/smile.gif

The reality is that we have never been a huge spending club. When DD took over in the early 80s we were in a financial mess. Why should the philosophy of the club change because Man City have arrived.

I do believe that the club are happy just aiming for top 4 and CL qualification and not pushing the boat out to win the league. We have a sposorship deal due to end soon and we may struggle to attract the kind of deal that we would like, unless we win a league or champions league very soon.

At the very least it will be reducing an interest rate somewhere along the line

1) Carry on the way we are, spending within our means ensuring we are financially secure for the long-term whilst regularly qualifying for the CL, having a shot at the domestic trophies and the odd tilt at the title in a good year.

2) Sell out to Usmanov and adopt the Man City/Chelsea model.

3) Get into debt in order to try and compete with the top three.

I don't see what else is available to us.

Of course, within that there is a discussion to be had about how much we need to keep in the bank to be financially secure and how we actually spend the money we have. But this is a fairly narrow spectrum in reality - even being fairly aggressive is still not going to allow us to compete with Man Utd's spend, let alone the rich two.

apparently spend more if we wanted to, rather than simply being unable to, as was the impression I was under

a new sponsorhip deal will allow us to be comfortable spending a bit more, but not to the extent that we can spunk £30M on a single player and give him £200k per week.

Arsenal is basically the most important institution in my life, I dont give a monkeys about countries, religions, political parties or anything like that.

I need to know we'll exist in 50 years time, that's what matters to me.

Having £150M in the bank, doesn't mean we have to spend it all. This summer though, we have spent none of it. I think we have made more on transfers than we spent this summer?

Of course fans should question why we are charging such high ticket prices and appearing to hoard the money. The reason is, probably, Wenger. He is such a good manager of the club has a very good scouting network, that we can net spend very little and still finish in the top 4. Ok it is getting a little too close for comfort but at least he is achieving that. I can't think of any other manager who could do this?

I wonder if we are saving some of the money to try and make a tilt at the title just before we need to renew our next shirt and stadium deals. We will have more negotiating power as champions than we would as a 4th place team. Just a hunch and even then it won't be us spending £100M Liverpool style, no where near that.

this is f**king tedious - the accounts are on arsenals website with the facts, why bother commenting if you cant be arsed to look them up?

we have long term debts (all at November 2011) of 263m, of that 166m is fixed rate bonds and 53m is floating rate bonds, the rest is other crap

cash is 115m

the clubs net assets (ie assets minus liabilities) is 306m

the club cant just spend the cash on anything as the debt agreements will restrict what free cash can be used for what purposes

early repayment of debt will trigger a break clause - probably expensive

god knows where PHW gets his number from
