or risk that has gone unaddressed. Arsenal not conceding a goal for three games is neither of these http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/judge.gif

sensitive or difficult that no-one wants to mention it. It is only in the company of AW that it becomes the elephant in the room.

or difficult subject in the presence of Wenger? He'd be delighted to be asked about it.

deliberately difficult laddie? Read the original post. My question was has anyone 'dared' to raise the question with AW.

for the defence to be adequately addressed, not whether he was directly responsible for their failings.

Do you honestly think Wenger has given Bould free reign to coach the defence in whatever way he pleases? Everything we know about Wenger tells you how unlikely that is.

In which case, how can Bould get all the credit? It's still Wenger's training sessions, and it's still his defenders.

criticism for the last few years?

In other words, if the defence being good is everything to do with Bould and nothing to do with Wenger, then surely the defence being **** was everything to do with Rice and nothing to do with Wenger http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/shrug.gif

None of us know what has happened of course, but it is possible that Arsene decided that after conceding 49 goals he decided to appoint somebody with responsibilities in this area.

We now have quotes from Vermaelen and Jenkinson that Bould has been working on defensive drills and giving them tips and so on, so even if Arsene has changed the tactics of the whole team, Bould has been involved with the defence.

I agree with the notion though, that we cannot exclusively credit Bould with the three clean sheets, if indeed they are an indicator for how things will go in future, which at the moment they don't.

did not like the way Keown got all the plaudits for the champions league defensive run in 06,and thus did not bring him back. This is playing out the same way in some folks eyes.

When a famous movie director was asked by one of his actors what his vision was for the next scene, he replied "My vision is, I'm paying you to act, so get out there and act!"

Steve McLaren says that the same thing happened on his first day as a coach at Manchester United.

What we know about Wenger? Well..
