were prepared to factor in the harsh reality for the new investors,( who presumably are in it for the business as a whole ) of spunking 35 million on a player, who several months later has been shipped out on loan, with the remote prospect that he'll fetch around 12 million if ever sold on.

Not a bad return eh ?

on their current predicament

He bought a batch of incredibly overpriced, average British players and spent about 100m on them

Henderson was nearly 20m ffs

I can see things going terribly wrong, if things don't pick up.

If you spend they say you bought your success. If you don't, well you're not any good as look at what Wenger is doing with youth and savvy transfers, and what Lambert did at Norwich with a bunch of lower leagues, a la George Graham when he pulled in Winterburn, Bould & Dixon (or Don Howe, or whoever scouted them).

The new owners put their trust in the manager and backed him which to a degree they are to be applauded for.

King Kenny. Utter ****er.

Paying hugely pver the odds for thatbig lump was bad but someof his other signings were arguably worse. Seriously ordinary players at ridiculous prices.

The board should be taking more responsibility.

However as we well know it's all about the nett spend and while they have spent with wild abandon a sizeable chunk of said expenditure was negated by incoming sums for one Fernando Torres, perhaps even 1-2 others.

They had of course previously spent stupidly (R Keane) however those accumulated debts were wiped clean when the boys took over.

The issue here is not so much the sums spent but the players they spent it on, specifically Downing and Henderson.

Investment was needed and they trusted the football people to make the calls.

Had they refused money to give money at the time they would have been the immediate target of the fan's wrath and burglary.

On carroll and suarez within hours.

Last summer's spending wasnt completely recouped was it? To be honest i dont even know. Downing, henderson, adam. They spent a few quid this summer as well. The swansea lad was 15 million

Would appear incredibly stupid if he was. Back in Italy now anyway, was on loan there all last season also.

budget they afforded him. They should not be taking responsibility for how the money was spent. They (supposedly) employed an expert in the field with more knowledge and ability in the area of managing a football team and knowing which players would suit the club. Allowing him to do that without interference is the only thing they SHOULDN'T be getting caned for.

side. Gave him a huge amount of money and didn't ask any questions. You can commend them for backing their man, fair enough, but to what extent do you "let them get on with it"? The minute a £35M offer goes in for a player with 5 months premier league experience, had achieved nothing and far from professional conduct off the pitch you, as an owner, should want justification.

Peter

And that they might as well flsuh the money straight down the bog.

King kenny would never sign players of this quality etc etc
