View Full Version : Ok, I am going to say it. For years I have been totally unconvinced with Diaby. After yesterday

I still am. It was one bloody game FFS. I remember him scoring a blinding goal against Villa at their place a few years back and every one telling me how great a player he would be. Nothing since. I also remember us improving as a team when he got sent off at Bolton.

I dearly hope he becomes the player we all want him to be
It may be that, with a decent run in the side, he may prove to be an excellent player, but I wait to be convinced and will certainly not be jumping on any bandwagons.

And another point. Stevie Bould is a god and we are the best defensive team in the Premier League.

And it looks as effective as ever http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/hehe.gif

Diaby showed what he could do yesterday. And it is wonderful. If your concern is sbout him doingit regulsrly then that is fine buti think mostof us were talking about whathe could potentially give us, and that was shown plentifully yesterday.

He needs to stay fit first and there is no reason to suspect that thishas changed, or ever will.

But foroneday, that was the player we were talking about. And wasnt he wonderful.....go on, admit it http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/hehe.gif

of the team can not just simply be down to Bould alone.

I too remain cautious, an injury or concentration lapse could be just around the corner. Interesting to see what happens in the Chelsea and City matches, if we're still solid in those matches, we're in business

I was delighted with Diaby. I thought he, along with Arteta and Cazorla, we outstanding and controlled a lot of the play. Unfortunately I have seen him play dozens of games where he has been far too slow to think and move. This may well be a lack of games but, in amongst all the injuries, he has played quite a few, very poor games.

I am not saying he will be a bad player, I hope he becomes a great player, but he is not one now after 1 game

Yesterday. Dont want to see too much of that.

Arteta was outstanding as well. But we all love him anyway.

Stevie Bould has no hair. How can you, of all people, betray him so?

doesn't make him a world beater by any means, but it should show alot of doubters what he has to offer. The ability is there.

He is not a poor player, he is a talent that has struggled to remain fit and string a run of games together. If he can get a run of games under his belt, we could see an important player for our team.

A lot of the players have been talking about how he's worked on the shape of the team when we've not got the ball and working on defending as a unit with everyone doing their bit.

Let's not go overboard but let's not dismiss it either.

....

“Steve is really good to work with, especially for defenders as he has been a defender himself,” Vermaelen told Arsenal Player.

“He knows what it is all about and gives us a lot of tips. He works a lot on the shape of the team and that is very important, so I am very happy he came to work with the first team.

“He is very focused on details. A lot of players, because we are getting older, we know how to play. But he looks at details and the shape of your body and to be honest I am learning a lot from him.”

And, with just a game against Koln to come on Sunday, Vermaelen feels the training schedule has been beneficial to the playing and backroom staff alike as they pinpoint the areas which need attention before the season kicks off.

The Belgium international added: “We have to get the shape of the team right. We have been working on it throughout pre-season and we are focusing on that.

“I think having your shape right is one of the most important things in football, whether you have the ball or don't have the ball. We are working really hard on that and Steve does the job really well.”

but against a really poor Liverpool midfield. Still, he can only play against what he is up against and I look forward to him opening up the Southampton defence next.

has suddenly become God's gift.

As I keep saying, he may be but I shall wait to be convinced. Not in a miserable 'I hate the kid' way, more an old cynical 'Meh' sort of way
