and had we actually spent some money on 2-3 more players to make the squad complete we may actually be competing for the title. Instead I look forward to the odd f**k up at places like Southampton YET AGAIN...

Nothing wrong with not winning trophies every single year but 7 years later and then you don't actually give it a go, why f**king bother

and Chelsea regularly, season after season.

4th is a massive success for us and we should be very proud if we achieve it again - I know we wouldn't with many other managers at the helm.

Chelsea, MC and MU, they will always throw more bucks at players than we will. Until there is a change upstairs.

wages of players they sell to other teams will be found, unless a successful financial model which includes investment from shareholders is found we will slip out of top four - matter of time

we're as close to the so-called big clubs in both quality and finances as we've ever been, I reckon.

About thirty years ago, we were finishing 3rd/4th and Juventus bought our best player and more than trebled his money. He won two titles with them; now, they are champions yet again but they can't even afford to pay decent money upfront for our cast-offs and yet we are still finishing third/fourth.

Finances would appear to be far less of an issue than actual performances on the pitch.

winning the league or CL and we can negotiate a better deal. Outside the top 4 and it will be a lot harder to negotiate something competitive. Of course are name counts for something, perhaps?

quite easily, sign 2-3 more plays for 10-15m each, As we had a £55m transfer kitty that equates to around between 30-45m. Not 30m a player etc

A trophy. http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/smile.gif

Failure to win anything this year will be the second longest gap without a cup since we first won one over 90 years ago.

I honestly dont think stan is remotely interested in running a football club. To him it is merely another business.

The interesting thing is not that wenger is untouchable but that the board actually needs him more than he needs them. No other manager would put up with this situation without complaint.

of course the board spun it as a transfer fund, but in reality it is probably a just in case fund.

he bought in 14 players in 97/98, for example....

What he won't do is go overboard and spend huge. He want value for money. Podolski for £10M or Carroll for £35M or Downing for £20M http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/shrug.gif

if we were in a good position on the pitch we are likely to command a better sponsorship deal. If we are not, we won't be in as strong a position. Of course, if we do get extra income, we will be able to us it. we won't suddenly go out and spend £25M on a striker, but we may be able to offer slightly better contracts to our players and players we want to sign.

Rememer the tv deal from next season is absolutely bloody enormous. Will inflate prices and wages even further.

Theo probably knows this. It will cost a small fortune to keep him now, hence he is gone. He simply isnt worth what it will cost. Should have sold him.

Seriously though, we can give any of the other contenders a game, and with some of the luck that all champions get, who knows.

That's never been the case before.

we are in a bit of a straight jacket regarding paying off the stadium. We have to pay a fixed amount for the full 17 years to avoid paying more.
