Who from the current squad would get into this one?

The only clear-cut one, imo, is Vermaelen over Touré. After that only Ljungberg is vunerable for maybe Arteta or Wilshere. Some of our current mob would get in as subs alright, such as Szcezny, Kos and Song.

The point here is that we are a whole level away from a title. It isn't that we need a player here are there - it is an entire squad, mindset etc.

By the way you can do the same exercise using the current City or Man U squad and you will get similar results.

Vermaelen is as good as Toure was. Sagna is better than Lauren was. The subs then are no better than we have now. Anyway its pointless comparing with most of that side as it was special. Probably the best squad of players in our history.

We have had very good players that would of fitted into that squad no problems. Sagna is miles ahead of Lauren. lauren however fitted in well with the team, we played differently. You really are comparing apples and oranges.

We are not a million miles away. Most of our issues can be resolved with a better approaching to playing when we do not have the ball, rather than just buying in a whole host of new players. If Bould is allowed to work on how the team defends as a unit, that might solve most of our problems.

Of course we are certainly a left back and possibily one or two squad players away from a real challenge, but not much more than that.
