Top player, brilliant at interceptions (similar to Koscielny) and intelligent using the ball in a simple, but effective way. A very calm head under pressure and a natural leader. Main position is centre-back, but also a more than useful right-back.

Montpellier are apparently playing hardball, but of we press our interest and the player shows interest then he'll move. The club had a gentleman's agreement with Yanga-Mbiwa that he could move to a big club this summer...

Another factor worth noting: Yanga-Mbiwa's agent Werner Baader is also the agent of Yann M'Vila. If the negotiations for the player go well and Baader is supportive of Arsenal's aims, then it could be an incenive to try and work with him to force through a deal with Rennes for M'Vila too...

Squalachi is off and Miquel is going on loan. Back up would be good. Especially with the amount of injuries we have.

Ask Wenger, he's the one who has approached Montpellier. Maybe Djourou is leaving? Or maybe he sees the player just as great cover at CB and RB. He played for France against Uruguay last week. Deschamps is a big admirer of Yanga-Mbiwa.

With Squizzers probably leaving, it's not a bad thing to have more depth in the squad http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/smile.gif

One to watch: Montpellier owner Louis "Loulou" Nicollin on rival clubs eyeing Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa: "They need to stop pissing me off. If Mapou doesn't like to stay, he'll go in the reserves. At some point club owners have to say 'stop' otherwise we'll be eaten alive. When we have crap players and nobody wants them, we have no choice but to keep them. So we'll be totally strict: he stays. It'll prove the size of my balls."

Take that with a pinch of salt. Louis Nicollin is a bit of a character to say the least and shoots from the lip. Money will talk to a certain extent, but more than that he will respect the wished of the player. He treats is staff like sons and will realise what an opportunity he has.

Just look at Nicollin showing his colours to support the French team:

Like I said, he's a character...

He looks like an older, booze ravaged version of that Aussie paparazzi guy. Darren something.
