Ok, a draw with Sunderland was frustrating, but it was a solid enough start and there will be the odd top team which gets mugged by them during the season.

More encouraging was Wenger's suggestion that he would look to bring some new players to strengthen the squad beforenthe transfer deadline.

The likeliest scenario is that he will revert to type and look to France, look for value, look for positional flexibility and look for players still on the upward curve of their career. If he does, then he and Gilles Grimandi will already have earmarked some exciting options:

RB
Mahieu Debuchy (also cover at RB or even DM)

CB
Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa (also cover at RB)
Mamadou Sako (also cover at LB)

LB
Cheikh M'Bengue (also cover at LM)

LM
Aymen Abdennour (also cover at LB)
Andre Ayew (also cover at AM and deep-lying CF)

DM
Stephane M'Bia (also cover at CB)
- Would AW really want another DM from Cameroon?
Etienne Capoue (also cover at CB)
Yann M'Vila

AM
Mathieu Valbuena (cover at LM and one centimetre shorter than Cazorla!)
Yoann Gourcuff
- Would AW want to try and resurrect his career now that he is being overshadowed by players like Maxime Gonalons? Easy to forget that YG still has time on his side and has only just turned 26.

Beyond these, we have known options in other leagues like Sahin, Isco, Biglia and van der Wiel, but it would be no surprise to see Wenger look to France again first...

Or sell him.

He may bring in a midfielder, but dont be surprised if he doesnt. I dont see him buying anyone else unless theo leaves.
