"After Kenny, I tried so hard to detach myself from the club. I planned to be a 'casual' this season. I'd watch the games. I'd support the club - but I'd do it from a distance. No more hurt, no more anger.
Last year I was in a rotten mood all the time. Took it out on people who didn't deserve it. If it wasn't one thing, it was another. On the pitch and off it.
Nobody was happier than the missus and the kids that I'd sworn off the game.
Then came Brendan. He had charisma, intelligence, a philosophy in place. Borini, Allen, Lucas back, the Gomel game. I'd been bitten. I believed again.
Then today. I don't know if I was crying about the result, or if it waa the frustration at myself for being drawn back in.
I'm in an abusive relationship with football, and I'll never be strong enough to leave."
