Did you all wake up and think we had suddenly become Chelsea or Manchester City?
This move wasn't about money for Van Persie. He told the truth. Thanks to the salaries Arsenal pay all of their top top players are millionaires several times over and set for life. All he wanted was to win trophies.
The financial managers at the club are the real villians here.
They decided to cash in on Van Persie a very long time ago.
Hence the reason they got the Podolski and Giroud deals tied up months ago.
Unfortunately for them moneybags City had no interest in being fleeced again so they took United's money and sold everyone out.
The deal to United actually makes Arsenal more money the more trophies United win....which fits in well with Arsenal's current financial model. There's no way the club can afford to win a Premiership....do you know how much they'd have to pay the players in bonuses and new salaries?? its unreal. It would blow the finances at the Emirates so wide apart the club would collapse on itself. Makes sense to keep selling the best players year in year out and maintain 4th place.
Feel for Wenger a bit...He had it all planned...Just build the new 60k seater stadium and bring in all the revenues required to win trophies....then the Unthinkable happened and Roman rolled into London and changed the entire financial dynamics of football forever...Now Wenger is trying desperately to the make the most of a dire position and just keep Arsenal afloat.

I'd like to wish Van Persie all the best and hope he has a very successful career at United. He deserves it. Great player.
