Court hears married pensioner caught on CCTV at Bradford hospital site with woman aged 35

A married pensioner was caught in a sex act with a 35-year-old woman on a Sunday afternoon in the staff car park at a Bradford hospital, magistrates heard.

The pair were spotted in a silver car by a security guard who was monitoring CCTV cameras which protect the car park at Bradford Royal Infirmary .

And when challenged by a police community support officer, who had been called to investigate, Vincent Leonard, 67, said: “Look I hold my hands up we were doing it. We thought it being a Sunday it would be quiet up here.�

Leonard yesterday pleaded guilty at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court to a charge of outraging public decency at the car park in Smith Lane, on Sunday, April 22, this year at 2.30pm.

His co-accused Sarah Jane Wright, 35, of Squire Green, Girlington , Bradford, failed to attend the court hearing.

Prosecutor Paul Ramsay said Leonard told the police officer he did not believe he was doing anything wrong and believed they could not be seen by anyone.

Mr Ramsay said Leonard had said he and the woman had known each other for 18 months after meeting in a Bradford street and she had asked if he wanted “business�.

The court was also told Leonard, of Brewery Street, Boothtown, Halifax, did not have the correct insurance or licence after his licence was revoked when he failed a medical test.

Chairman of the magistrates bench, Roger Pickering sentenced Leonard to a conditional discharge for 12 months. For the driving matters he received seven points on his licence and was disqualified from driving for six months. He received a £210 fine, was ordered to pay £85 in costs and a £15 victim surcharge.

In his mitigation, the court heard Leonard had no previous convictions on his record. He used to own a taxi firm and his social life had become limited after he suffered a stroke eight years ago.

The court heard he met the woman through boredom and had felt sorry for her. He was sorry for his actions, the court was told.

Wright, who also faces a charge of outraging public decency, and using a car without the correct licence and insurance has been ordered to attend court on August 29.
