Given how close he came to dying, giving up football is surely a small price to pay.

I imagine it was also a lot of the motivation for his recovery. There's nothing like near death to put **** into perspective though.

but i was ****! In many ways he has at least played at the top level, earned quite a bit compared to the rest of us. He is supposed to be very bright and had thought about going to university instead of playing football, so can now be the richest student at Uni- though the ConDem fees will leave a small hole in his savings.

I do agree with what you are saying about having to give up his dream, though. Whenever I think of sportsmen who are forced to quit due to injury I am reminded of this tragic character
