How long will it be before clubs no longer buy and sell players from each other?

I think it would be a far better system if transfer fees were abolished. Players would sign a contract with a club which can only be broken before the end date if both parties agree.

That way, if a player sulks because he wants to leave early, the club can withhold his wages without losing out at all financially.

In fact, let's abolish your salary too, while we're at it. Just tell your family and AMEX and your bank that you felt that this was a far better system.
