Just watched the Campbell vs Nevin fight, the first ever Britain vs Ireland final, brilliant stuff, IMO.

Imagine having someone's sweaty foot lodged in your mush ...ugh.

Should have a good shout at another tomorrow with a wee fella as well.

they are seen as the world leaders in the amateurs. Think there is one in a final. Nevin beat a Cuban, the world no 1, in the semi as well.

There are so many penalties in the sport.

Incredibly, that was their first gold since 2004.

I'm surprised they haven't been more successful in the past. Especially when you consider how big the sport is over there and some of the fighters they have had.

but didn't realise just how much they were in the amateurs. They always produce the same type of boxer, though. An orthodox, foot-planting, half man half tank.

Sadly, with the economic situation being what it is, it will suffer from cutbacks.

There is already talk that the two head coaches will be headhunted by other countries. 2008 and 2012 could prove to be an Indian summer, of sorts.
