It's football with sticks. With no offside. The ice-hockey preferred over there derives from competitive seal-clubbing. Nothing wrong with that, of course, but nor is there anything wrong with the round-ball version. There's a huge machorama thing going on with the frozen-waste formula, which leads to sneering like above, but I won't comment on that. People living on a diet of seal-flipper need something to feel better about themselves.
