I'm guessing some people on here (and not just Peter) will disagree with these

The Sex Pistols, Peter? Honestly, you MUST be bigger than that
73 - Dream On
74 - Sweet Home Alabama
75 - Bohemian Rhapsody (I love Queen)
76 - Hotel California
77 - Solsbury Hill
78 - Sultans of Swing
79 - Another Brick in the Wall 2
80 - Another One Bites the Dust
81 - Start Me Up
82 - I Ran (So Far Away)
Pistols aren't my cup of tea but iconic? Come on......! I can't think of anything that fits the word better.
I'll give you Sultans of Swing, that's a good one. I'm not sure Solsbury Hill is iconic.
Not going to argue with the 80s. You can keep that entire decade, I don't need it
Well, up until around 89.
I went more with songs that I really like that bring back memories of that time, than iconic.
Start Me Up was my last year of high school and I Ran my first year of university, I immediately think of those two years when I hear those two songs.
I love Solsbury Hill but will agree it is not iconic. We Are the Champions/We Will Rock You is much more iconic for that year
I could take issue with Dream On, actually. Now I love a bit of Aerosmith, and I agree that song is well known now but I honestly don't think it was at the time. So it may be iconic now but I very much doubt that many people think back to that song when they think of their 1973.
