There are some decent pubs. I even tried a Welsh Stout which was better than I expected.Cardiff is "quite" nice for the area (South Wales). Down the regenerated bay area for example, pleasant. Some decent pubs in the city also.
If you want squalid then head out s of Thornhill in the direction of Caerphilly. Going over that mountain is like going back in time.
THe city is ok...like most these days- shops, coffee shops and hundreds of homeless people...
Reverend James (Brains) is nice if you see a pub with it.
I expect you are more a Heineken type mind you.
Not really, I only drink Guinness these days. Lager just tastes like muck to me now.
