Just finished Great Expectations and must say what a thumping good yarn it was so

props to Sir C for its recommendation.

Happened to see the David Lean film in HMV for a couple of quid so, also on the recommendation of Sir C, bought it..... oh dear! Best I can say is it was of its time.

    • Young Pip, having been raised by Kentish marsh peasants, speaking like a little posh twát.
    • Estella not nearly beautiful enough as child or woman.
    • All accents Van Dykish in their ineptitude.
    • John Mills playing a 19 year old Pip, looking 42.
    • Every scene saturated with a ghastly, whimsical sound track.
