It's an odd one. Southgate has got a group of players who clearly like each other (apart from Ben White) and respect the manager and are for the most part quite likeable. The problem is that whilst a good man-manager, he sucks at the actual management bit. Too safe, too reactive and generally Martinez at Belgium level.
Could bring in a Jonny-foreigner manager but will the team gel as well and enjoy the England experience as much? Potter, possibly but I don't think Chelsea will pull the trigger until end of season at the earliest.

I think it’s a certainty he’ll stay. Potter would be a good choice. Early days but there appears to be issues at Chelsea and Boehly has a wrecking ball mindset without the ruthless wisdom employed by his predecessor.
