Other than the obvious defensive issues, we need a Santi-esque Xhaka replacement. Someone who can fit between LT11 and MO11, actually playing as a box-to-box MF who doesn't just stand there and let opponents run past him, while having the skill to play one touch Wengaball with Mesut like Santi and Rosicky could.

He scored some of the sexiest goals I've seen - those two backheels, the kung-fu volley, the one he hit on the half volley with his left into the far, top corner. And sexy goals make me happy.

I suppose the only thing I disliked about Ramsey that was his fault was how utterly dull he seemed as a person. I bet he barely drinks and is faithful to his not that attractive Welsh wife. The dullard.
However, he represented everything that was wrong with the teams and players in the latter Wenger years. For every cute touch or spectacular finish there were dozens of examples of needless loss of possession and a total lack of interest in his defensive responsibilities. He wasn't alone, and the person responsible ultimately was Wenger, but that doesn't change the fact that as a player he was grossly overrated and never in a million years worth the money.
Like Ozil, Ramsey was part of the problem and I won't have this sentimental revisionism. The 4 or 5 goal pastings, the inevitable failure and the steady progress down the table don't fill me with a longing to return to those years and those teams.
