I'd say it's become anything but. It's been shown to be wholly at odds with mainstream political ideas and totally unsuited to electoral reality.

It's an odd mania, that. I think it derives from the fact that the left has become so used to the BBC's bias in its favour that it sees anything less than slavish adherence to the party line as an outrage.

The old 'If both sides are attacking you, it must mean you're doing it right, thing? Yeah, that's bullshít, I'm afraid. As I say, the two attacks are of a completely different nature. One is the tantrum of a toddler being told 'no' for the first time, while the other is the weary irritation of having to point out the same thing again and again and again.

There is no dispute that the bias of the BBC as a whole is towards the left. Look at its woker-than-thou commissioning and hiring procedures. Look at its relentless flag waving for 'diversity' and constant attempts to push 'positive' stereotypes of minorities and the green agenda. These are not things that an innately conservative organisation does - let alone a Conservative one.
