This case is an older one but, for instance, Swedbank and Deutsche Bank have recently admitted covering up such activities for years, hiding them by simply firing their auditors and getting "better" ones in. It's not too far fetched to imagine right now that people are desperate to find somewhere, anywhere to hide huge amounts of cash because the swamp-drainers are closing in.
