Thread: The most extraordinary thing is going on on Twitter at the moment.

The most extraordinary thing is going on on Twitter at the moment.

The son of ancient socialist irritant Harry Leslie Smith has effectively been using his senile father as a sockpuppet on Twitter for years now to proselytise his Corbynite message. This has been increasingly obvious, containing as it has references to things and issues a man in his 90s simply wouldn't know. He's been called on this many times - blocking those who do this (including yours truly). So far, so silly and pathetic - typical Twitter, right?

However, yesterday things took a twisted new turn when said son admitted he was tweeting on his dad's account in order to announce that he had been taken into hospital and appeared to be on his last legs. For the last 24 hours, he has been effectively live-tweeting his dad's decline and (we must assume since 95 year-olds rarely come out of the ICU upright) death.

During this time, he has used his dad's predicament to lodge complaints about the politics of austerity in Ontario (where they are), put words in his dad's mouth and generally use his dad's dying moments to score political points.

It's genuinely one of the worst things I've ever seen.

If you don't believe me, look for @harryslaststand on Twitter. It will blow your mind that someone can sink this low.

That is some deeply creepy ****, and no mistake. Addled old fool he may be, but he deserves to die with a little dignity.

I came across that briefly yesterday - most distasteful.

What's really terrifying to me is that the man can do all this while still imagining he's one of the good guys.

Although why the capacity of socialists for cognitive dissonance of this sort should still surprise me after all these years, I don't know. There were probably people smashing out teeth with hammers in the bowels of the Lubyanka who still imagined they were the good guys.

It's like all those people who claim Corbyn's a lovely cuddly chap, entirely disregarding his enthusiastic endorsement of terrorists and his barely-concealed jew-hating.

He keeps waking to say inspirational things, apparently. Although at one point he apparently awoke to insist his son buy all the nurses a tin of Quality Street. Not even proper chocolates. Quality Street. All he's done there is make his dad look cheap. After all, what's he saving up for, ffs?

Also, do they sell Quality Street in Ontario?

What's he doing in Canada, for fúck's sake? I assumed he lives in Barnsley or some other squalid northern hellhole, the way he's always banging on about evil Tories and austerity. What does he know from evil Tories in Canada?

He probably took him there to save him from being murdered by the Tory austerity that's never actually happened or something.

That'll be the whole point, I think. Clearly he privately despises his dad, as a result of some ancient misdeed or injustice or other; marrying a German or something like that. Anyway, time is running out and this is his last chance for revenge.
"Plenty of strikers can score goals," he said, gesturing to the famous old stands casting shadows around us.

"But a lot have found it difficult wearing the number 9 shirt for The Arsenal."
