So, apparently, thon old chap who leads the Lib Dems is stepping down.

He wants to change the rules so that a non-MP can lead the Party.

I'm really not sure how that's supposed to work.

Works for UKIP and The Greens, both about as relevant as the LDs.
When I was young and full of rage
I hated Tottenham to the core
But now I've reached a gentler age
I hate the fùckers even more.

SNP, Greens , Welshers...... and used to happen more in the UK... so can work and you could argue that a leader not having to concentrate on the daily MP job COULD do a better job than an elected MP

They seem quite different to me. Hitler didn't drink Farage does. Hitler was vegetarian(ish). Farage isn't. Hitler didn't like foreigners. Farage is married to one.

Chalk and, if I may say, cheese.

I believe Hitler farted a lot. I have no idea whether Farage does.

Also, Farage does go on about fishing a lot more than Hitler did.

Thing is, those are either fringe parties or separatist parties where the leader sits in their own Parliament/Assembly. The LibDems are supposed to be an actual, serious, nationwide, Parliamentary party. To appoint a non-MP as leader would effectively be to admit that they are just a fringe party.

I thought that did that when they appointed that chinless Tim Farron, but I have to say I was taken aback when I read the whole non-MP thing. Maybe they want to appoint Charles Kennedy's ghost. At least people noticed them when he was the leader
