Booked the family in for a last minute weekend break in Kent this weekend at what I

thought to be a moderately classy golf and spa hotel.

    Then I saw this

Is there a more uninspiring food item than Salmon fishcakes

Are those really the best pictures they could get of him? One where he looks like he's being driven to court to face charges of gross indecency and the other where he's looking like a mong in one of our worst ever kits (and one of his worst haircuts).

To be fair, when it comes to photos of Paul Merson looking like a mong, they could have chosen a lot worse.

Also, they probably need to manage expectations for anyone unaware of quite how thick he is.

Fair points both. And, when it comes to the salmon fishcakes, they are the sort of food that people who'd go to something like that would consider fancy without being too challenging.

I went to a wedding there.

Look, Canterbury is a fascinating city and I recommend lunch at The Goods Shed. There is a rather nice pub just down the road as well. Just stay Canterbury for as long as you can and return to the 'hotel' to enjoy the ambience and decor, pitched, I should say, halfway between an old people's home and a civic leisure centre

We're visiting as part of a reconnaissance mission to work out where we'd like to live out of Folkestone, Faversham or Ramsgate.

    What say you?

It's hard to answer objectively since they are all utter shítholes, but apparently on the rise. Folkestone has a decent seafood restaurant in Rocksalt, Ramsgate is at least showing signs of emerging from its dystopian past, Faversham I haven't been brave enough to drive through since 1984.

What about Broadstairs, Deal, Whitstable, Canterbury? I haven’t been to any of them in decades, but they used to be better than the places listed.

Yeah, all lovely but train lines back to London not quite so good.

They're proper nice, but they're populated by decent Englishmen so I don't think jews are allowed.
