In my, happily very occasional, dealings with police officers,

they are invariably polite and respectful. Perhaps not supremely intelligent, but then why would an intelligent person choose such a profession? (I speak not of specialist officers such as Morse, Lewis and Hathaway, of course.)

One chap stopped me in my car recently, apologised profusely for doing so, but claimed that his 'system' told him that my car was uninsured. "Obviously," he said, "it must be a mistake," but he was obliged to check. When I reassured him that I did have the requisite insurance cover, he apologised once more and invited me to get on with my day.

As I drovbe off he saluted.

One suspects that if one is polite but firm when dealing with the constabulary, they, like dogs, understand their social position and treat one accordingly.

No. The insurance company hadn't updated the system when I changed the registration number.

No, I simply explained the situation to him. He clearly saw no reason to question the word of a gentleman.

I must say I am distinctly uncomfortable with this whole business.

    "Existential threat"? Really?

I fear the Jewishers have over played their hand and are going to end up losing sympathy now.

    leave it out.

I've seen them documentaries on C5. They'd have had you in a near fatal choke hold the second you reached for your documents.

You shouldn't be. This is how they get their way. They chip, chip, chip away at accepted norms until the unconscionable view becomes valid and acceptable for debate. They're currently doing it with jewhating and communism. They have recently done it with such matters as men being married to men, or women being married to women - then it was men becoming women by the magical method of simply calling themselves women. Insanity becomes an accepted norm.

In this matter they are assisted by useful idiots such as yourself, of course.
