You see this is you socialists' answer to everything: if in doubt, stick your hand in the taxpayer's pocket.
    Cripples pay taxes too, Burney.

    Hmmm.

I am not sure that a grown up, apart from when in McDonalds or Five Guys or a similar establishment, ever really needs a straw for drinking. Certainly with respect to a Bloody Mary it would be down the hatch in a few mouthfuls rendering the whole straw engagement a nonsense.

Have a word with yourself else you end up like thon Dutch ponce.

Nah, if the BM is a big one in (effectively) a pint glass with tons of ice, a straw is the way forward. Otherwise you end up with foliage up your nose and a big tomato juice moustache.

And the post-breakfast pina colada enjoyed on one's sun lounger next to the pool?

You simply haven't thought this through.

My pet peeve in this regard is the amount of money we pile into cyclists. New lanes, places to park their silly things etc etc

I'm betting cyclists are a net drain.

    Oh yes

And some of my trains now have 2 less seats near the door. Not sure if that is for the cyclists or the raspberries?

Especially when you consider how many of them end up hurling themselves under the wheels of lorries, resulting in expensive court cases, hospital bills, lifetime care, etc, etc.
