Except no one compared Putin to Hitler; they compared the use of an event by one with the similar use of a similar event by the other.

Oddly, I dreamt last night that I was sharing a house with Jacob Rees-Mogg. He was a proper pain in the arse.

Pointing out that tyrants have form for using major sporting events for propaganda purposes is hardly unacceptable, is it?

Besides, it's pretty funny to watch the same people who've been calling anyone to the right of Jeremy Corbyn 'Nazis' for the last few years start clutching their pearls because someone draws a valid historical parallel.

I'm sorry, you are completely wrong on this, there is no defence for either politician to have used that reference

Why the fvck not? Hitler (well, Goebbels) basically wrote the book on using major sporting events as a propaganda platform. It's obvious that Putin will do the same. Given which, it would be weird to make that point without mentioning the 1936 Olympics.

So IF Israel ever did anything like this, would anyone dare to compare it to what Germany did in '36? No, didn't think so

The left never stops comparing Israel to the Nazis. Its pretty much their go-to insult.

Besides, Israel is a parliamentary democracy and not a police state run by a tyrannical autocrat.
