Yes he may want CL football but so did Lacazette.

He is desperate to leave Southampton and has more or less burnt his bridges at said club. He is really in little position to rule us out.

We are despite our EL status a massive step up from Southampton and VvD would jump at the chance of joining us, leading us into a bright new future and essentially doubling his wages or something along those lines. What is needed is an aggressive approach to the deal, a take it or leave it offer to force the hand of all parties, no room for third party gazumping. If his agent the solicits the interest of City and/or Chelsea then we **** him off.
Look at you.... a decent season of football management and you are now dictationg how it shoud be done.

    I agree with you BTW

City have spent around one quarter of a billion pounds of their defence in the last few weeks. I don't think they'd take him. Chelsea have Cahill, Rudiger and the Spanish lads. Perhaps room for one more there.

Your suggestion that we'd take a 'no dithering' approach to a transfer is so left-field that it's beyond laughable.

I think you will find that SW is saying that is how we SHOULD conduct this transfer, not that we would conduct it like that.

This strong rumour you mentioned seems to a bloke on twitter, which is where you seem to get most of your info from

We could do with a genuinely great one but there aren't any. We are comparatively blessed in having one of the best around (Koscielny) a couple of big strapping Germans and a decent looking young English one.

Whereas in midfield we have a collection of the sick, the lame and the horrible. Midfielder for me.
