Apparently Gazidis used the term "catalyst for change."

I quite like that one, I think I'll start using it myself.

"At breakfast, dad solemnly declared that his latest hangover would be a catalyst for change."

Your Mum is a catalyst for change. And so on.

    Very good.
"Plenty of strikers can score goals," he said, gesturing to the famous old stands casting shadows around us.

"But a lot have found it difficult wearing the number 9 shirt for The Arsenal."

I think He's staying, tbh. But they'll say that it's the final 2 years and will put in measures to ensure a smooth handover at the end of it.

Alexis will go. Ozil will stay. There will be more transfer activity than usual and also the coaching teams will see an overhaul.

We'll battle back from this season's 7th place finish to a victorious 4th position next year and He'll be carried through the streets of Islington to the Town Hall by a mob of ecstatic supporters.

I imagined that would be something to do with the share price. No idea what though, of course.

He could become our director of football but, for a manager, that's a demotion, isn't it

Also, for the new man (or woman), it casts a bit of a shadow over your job, doesn't it? I think it has to be a 'clean divorce' if he is indeed to go.

In the first place, I reckon it's too late for that now. A clean divorce, I mean. Not a new man (or woman).

Secondly, we do actually need somebody just like Him for that DoF job, if we're going to go down that road, that is. So, why not Him.

Nah, the "changes" will be on the coaching side. People like Bould and Primorac going and Vieira taking their place. Pires the new director of football.

Waste of everybody's time then, isn't it. You can do that sort of thing any day of the week you like, can't you, so why the suspense?

Are people going to stop waving banners and hiring aeroplanes just because Bobby is on the staff? Why would Paddy be a more suitable coach than Steve Bould?

Personally i don't think it will make a blind bit of difference. I suppose the only difference being if it goes well everyone will put it down to Vieira and Pires and it saves them having to find a new manager.

What sort of personal ego trip is he on, saying a month ago that he has made up his mind and not telling people what that decision is. Does he imagine it is good for the club, the fanbase or anyone but himself?

Complete narcissist and megalomanic. Off he can jolly well ****.

I ruled that out because, as you suggest, it makes no sense.

I've decided that He's not saying anything simply because He can't, He's not allowed to. His "decision", whatever it is, will, I think, have serious consequences for the club. I'm thinking He can't say what it is because of its momentous nature demanding that the shareholders and our major financial backers be told first. Of course, once they know, and the players know, everybody will know.

As for the team, our form isn't great. The Cup will take care of itself, of course; the players will always want to go to Wembley and win regardless. Champions League football next season is far from certain though so they presumably want as little distractions as possible right now. But He's saying next season doesn't matter at the moment, we need to prepare for, and win, our next game(s), most importantly.

Anyway, to me, the only way this "standoff" makes any sense at all is if He *is* going to be around next season, but *not* as manager. Nobody wants Him seemingly hounded out of the club so this way deals with that possibility too. I reckon if we'd nailed a top four finish on already, He'd have announced His decision by now.

Lots of wild guessing there obviously.
