Pakistani Super League T20 Shenanigans last night

    Dodged a bullet

    Peshawar Zalmi v Quetta Gladiators

backed the Gladiators midway through their innings at 1.51 and they posted 200.

Zalmi were on fire...Malan and Hafeez got them off to a flyer but then wickets started to halt their progress before Boom Boom Afridi stepped in...what an onslaught.

They needed 7 off the final over with Sarfaz Ahmed the spinner bowling.

    1st ball 1 run, 2nd ball 4, 3rd ball dot....they need 2 off the final 3 but all 3 were wickets

    insane.

Zalmi couldn't even get 1 run in for a super over....

Have a feeling the IPL will be carnage this year with this craziness at play.

Amazing seens, Tony. And they say it isn't a bowler's game.

Often harder for the batsmen when they can win with singles it seems these days - they don't have the nous to nurdle ones and twos so still go for big shots with a high percentage chance of getting out.

    McCullum back for Middlesex, though

I was watching one of the recent New Zealand T20s games and picked up on something....

Hardly any 2s or 3s being scored.

The ground was so small and the ropes brought in that you were scoring dot balls, 1s or hitting the ropes.

2s and 3s were just quite simply impossible to achieve.

so everyone fell into the trap of trying to get the 4s and 6s and if they didn't there would be dot balls or 1s so you ended up with a very very tense low scoring game that just wears on you as a batsman....sucked into that grind of dot balls and 1s and then a couple wickets go and the game has completely turned.

It's so awesome how that can consume a team so quickly...but then a few 6s and it's all good again.

you do get games with excellent running between the wickets but not as often as you used too.

Yeah - you might get a three at the MCG/Brisbane but very few other places (without overthrows). One of the Aussies was making the point the other week (possibly Warner) that they really had to adapt their game playing in the bigger arenas at home compared to the ones in the IPL and it was actually possible to score big with non-boundaries. Much better game for more running imo
