Souness was saying Olly got lucky. But Carragher said most shots into the top corner are lucky in the same way. As Barrybueno said, it's like a golfer hitting a hole in one. Of course it's lucky as he doesn't know exactly where on the green it will land and what the exact slope at that point is. People {except maybe Souness} don't say every hole in one is pure luck.

I was looking at Goal of the Month on MotD2, and was thinking whether, if Souness is right {which I don't agree with} then when looking for the best goal this month, then surely Alexis's was much better than any long range belter.

All the top corner screamers have elements of luck, as Carragher said, while Alexis knew exactly what he was doing with that swivelled step over and gentle lob. No luck involved.

So is that a better goal {barring the fact that it was off-side}?
