    Copa America Hilarity

    What a disaster!

    1) The general sporting public had no idea this thing was starting, or what it is. FOX poorly promoted this and then relegated the matches to the backwaters of FoxSports1 and Foxsports2.

    2) The USMNT was suitably lavished with high praise by the unindocrinated media types as they scrambled to master even three or four players names. Then on Friday night they laid a huge egg, losing to Columbia (Ospina!) 2-0 when it could have been more. the USMNT barely mustered even a half chance, the only one of merit a Dempsey free kick that our man Ospy saved well. The knives are out for Klinsmann and his penchant for playing folks out of their natural position.

    3) The GRAND day was Saturday, a triple header was on the menu. Out of the three matches only 1 goal total was scored. Not exactly what Americans want to see to generate even feeble interest.

    4) In the opening ceremonies for Mexico/ Uruguay-- instead of the Uruguayan national anthem, the Chile national anthem was played! He look on the faces of the players and their few fans were priceless! Confusion reigned. In the commotion Mexico switched formation early, from the advertised 4-3-3 to a sort of 3-2-4-1 (chicharito up top) which left Uruguay scrambling to mark their men -- leading to a wide open cross and own goal. 10-men Mexico beat 10 men Urugauy on a hotly disputed 90' goal.

    5) the one guy that people know is Messi -- so he's been hyped relentlessly. Well, the rumor is he ain't playing tonight against Chile!

The most fun is to say that this proves soccerball is ****, which turns the Soccerheads into quivering blobs of red-faced anger. heh...

Have you seen the stuff about Itoje being selected at 6 for the first game? Quite excited to see him there They want to play Te'o at 12 as well from what i read. I hope it's Farrell at 10 in that case.

Yep - Woodward said that was the way to go a couple weeks back and seems Jones agrees. Also means we can play Launchbury with Lawes to come of the bench. Top stuff.

Not sure about Te'o - was awful against Connaght the other day (not the only Leinster player who was tbf). Would rather stick with the Ford Farrell axis. At least Farrell will be in for his kicking
