Decent catch that, but what on earth is Compo doing!

It's supposed to be a *test match*
"Plenty of strikers can score goals," he said, gesturing to the famous old stands casting shadows around us.

"But a lot have found it difficult wearing the number 9 shirt for The Arsenal."

To be fair, it probably doesn't help when your own supporters are ripping the piss out of you for slow scoring. Ignorant northern buffoons.

Sure, but the man shouldn't be anywhere near the test match team, should he?

    Better to play Ballance/Bell.

It was Broad what convinced Cook to bat first apparently. Perhaps they all get paid by the day.

Both the players you mention have as many flaws as Compton (if not more) so why shouldn't he be anywhere near the test match team?

Rich really ought to know by now that recommending the picking of Bell is a red rag to your bull, la.

You're right, though. Ballance isn't a test player by a long shot and picking Bell would be a retrograde step.

I actually like the fact that Compton is a good defensive batsman.

Yeah - but actually agree he shouldn't be in the team- Really like the bloke (Arsenal fan, grandson of an England legend and genuinely comes across as a nice lad) but had no form for Middlesex coming into this series. Would rather they had picked Robson and put Hales at 3
