Yes, I liked that as well. At least the first couple of times I heard it....

i think we've got a good bunch of key players, but when it's come to backup we've fallen well short. if we had better options as a squad then we'd have come 2nd guaranteed. it just got to the point where at the end (even from the west ham game) we were blowing out of our arses and had just run out of steam. - by Tone - 05/16/2016 08:49AM
I've said this all season, when he's poor we drop points, it just highlights how ridiculius it's been having one striker all season - by Rumbles - 05/16/2016 08:48AM
It crumbles from here. Its the usual pattern. Whos our next manager? - by Penge - 05/16/2016 08:38AM
    I'm not renewing - by gdp - 05/16/2016 08:45AM
Dembele to Man Utd, Kane breaks his leg at the euros and Levyand Poch fall out over transfers, tower crane collapses on the new stadium site and kills 14 people on the high rd and we get sued and go bust - by Rumbles Happy monday - 05/16/2016 08:42AM
it wont, in fact i expect us to be stronger from it, but right now its a ****ing shocker - by .TC. - 05/16/2016 08:41AM
I hope you're right but the way we have ended the season has shown such a level of petulance and unprofessional ism I fear if we do go the way of end a season poorly start a season poorly, poch will be gone before Xmas - by viveledaniel - 05/16/2016 08:45AM
i disagree, in fact i think this collapse makes it easier for poch to go certian players and say you failed you're gone, - by .TC. - 05/16/2016 08:48AM
Like who? If he pins the last few games on someone like mason then hes a total **** - by Balham - 05/16/2016 08:55AM
Well, hopefully this will be a lesson for Poch and our young players and I believe they will improve on this..However, there's one person who I fear will hold us back, and who is too old and stubborn not to learn from this and that is Levy...He needs to prove us wrong showing that he has learned from when we got into the CL the first time and invest on the back of CL qualification and really give it a go..Doubt it though(nt) - by Yourconscience - 05/16/2016 08:44AM

In many ways I preferred last season to this - cup run, day out at Wembley (**** as it was), Harry Kane coming onto the scene and ripping Chelsea a new one, beating Arsenal...my beloved Bobby Soldado ambling around collecting yellow cards and not doing much else. - by GarlandGreene - 05/16/2016 08:32AM

ha some changed of gear from TC. For the last few weeks he was telling us to relax and enjoy the great season we've had. Not quite so chillaxed today. And Mil. Remember our sensational season you were telling us we were having? How are you feeling about that today - by Dack LEVY OUT POOCH OUT - 05/16/2016 08:21AM
it has been a great season and ill be able to relect on that again before next season starts, but right now, this is a bad one - by .TC. - 05/16/2016 08:42AM
Its better than i could have imagined. Ive seen some great football, weve got a good 1st eleven, i would have teken 3rd all day long. Why do you get a kick out of ttyring to come across as an ' i told you so', i was right, please give me a big chufty as i was right' Is that what you need. Are you insecure? - by Mil - 05/16/2016 08:27AM
No Mil but I hate people talking utter *******s. We've finished below Arsenal yet again and failed again to win a trophy. A lower points total then AVB managed despite all those simpering, arse licking articles we've had to put up with about Pooch and hos special, special team. We've capitulated in a season were it was our only chance ever to win the league - by Dack - 05/16/2016 08:32AM
I wouldnt worry about it mate. its not like you go is it? - by Mil - 05/16/2016 08:38AM
I was going to WHL while you were mooning over George Parris' hampton. As T said, if you aren't pissed off today then you're simply not Spurs - by Dack looking at the new Alliance of JB and Glassy - 05/16/2016 08:42AM

AVB got more points than we got this season. - by GILLY - 05/16/2016 08:13AM
Even if we'd have finished with more points than AVB did, you'd have to say what an amazing achievement it was by him to have got that many points, this season we were challenging for a title, at one point we'd hardly lost any games and if we had finished strongly still wouldn't have had that many more than he got us - by viveledaniel - 05/16/2016 08:28AM
Spot on. Amidst a backdrop of the **** sherwood slithering around and levy siding with adebayor over a ****ing hat. - by Balham - 05/16/2016 08:33AM

Exactly, we've managed to **** the bed in this piss easy season, and people expect us to still challenge with a CL campaign and a harder league when City, Utd and Chels** sort themselves out, plus a re-emerging Liverpool. (nt) - by MisterT - 05/16/2016 08:21AM

"Wolves' League One promotion party was nearly cancelled after fans discovered a fake BOMB left behind in Molineux executive box by police officers" ... Almost 30,000 supporters were in jubilant mood as they celebrated the club's return to the Championship during the League One match with Carlisle United on May 3. But up in one section of the Steve Bull Stand, fans were being evacuated after the discovery of the imitation explosive device, which had been used by police in an earlier training exercise and mistakenly left there" ... 16 May 2014 ... so believe ... unless that was a cover-up as well - by gdp - 05/16/2016 09:12AM
Didn't help the last 3 we were already 3rd and qualified for CL, Arsenal still had to keep going in case Man City pushed them into 4th. - by viper - 05/16/2016 09:00AM

That's why I haven't been on here for the last couple of weeks and had no intention if returning until August. i've been saying i'm not going to renew for the last 3 or 4 years. £800 for a year is good value but i can't be arsed with the grief and just want to sack it off - by Tone would rather spend it flying instead - 05/16/2016 08:51AM

We used to talk on here and say we were basically a one man team with Bale, if he didnt perform we didnt. Have we really moved on in anyway with Kane? If he doesn't perform neither do we generally. We can talk about the emergence of Alli and Dembele and the what Alderwiereld has bought to the defence, but Kane is the main man in everything good we do. Have we just spent the last 3 years changing all those players to stand still really. We're hitting the same amout of points, mentally we're still weak, we still don't win anything. I'm sure this will produce a Hazard novella response but I'm not convinced we've moved away from being dependent on one player still. (nt) - by MisterT - 05/16/2016 08:47AM

It's not even that we're just relying on him most of the time, it's that we're relying on him pulling a goal out of nowhere. He makes so many of his own shooting opportunities that I think it makes it seem like we create more clear cut chances than we actually do. We still had more than 60% possession yesterday and managed to do **** all with it...again. - by GarlandGreene - 05/16/2016 08:54AM

I'm assuming Ledley and David Howells escorted the VIP group to the game. The latter seemed to have the right hump for some reason. - by trappy - 05/16/2016 09:38AM
Timing in this transfervm window is everything, get it done asap so we have a pre season with the new players and start the season prepared, this won't hsppen as the littke man likes to leave everything to the last day thinking he's being clever. - by Rumbles - 05/16/2016 09:30AM
its going to be another feable attempt at 'buying' players. Donna Cullen will distribute some ****y bull**** ITK to her nonces to make it seem like we are the good guys getting a rough deal from other chairman. Nothing will happen. We will get some unknow ******** player from some 2-bob league *ala chadli* in a position wedont really need cover for purelyas we may make some profit on him. Poch will claim hes happy, we still renew. We still **** the first few games, he is sacked before the end of the season. Its written in stone. You'd think so yeah, but that just shows how little you know about football and business. Why should we fork out now and miss out on 3 months of interest from the bank? And if course there's 3 months of wages for them doing nothing. The season starts sept 2nd. Just look at all the mugs doing their ins and outs early, they are nobodies in football. - by Dan - 05/16/2016 09:44AM

Shambolic yesterday and such a deflating end to what should go down as an enjoyable season. Players were a disgrace first half and Poch made 2 changes. Second half we got back in it and at 1-2 v 10 men surely you could only see one outcome. Yes the penalty decision swung it and it was a terrible dive, but I dont understand the change to 3-5-2 when really we had 20+ minutes with 75% of the ball and I'm sure we'd have cracked them. Just went to pieces and played a naive unprofessional immature game and got what we deserved. There are no positives unless you scrape for them. Poch will know (or he should) that under the first xi there isn't much bar Wimmer and the full backs and Son at a push. Mentally we are not quite the same old Tottenham, but it can rear it's ugly head with the simplest of upsets. We're not the soft touch we once were, but we're still fragile. £60m the papers say, if he gets that net I'd be very surprised but I hope he does of course. See you in the CL. nt - by NTY - 05/16/2016 09:18AM
The only reason we didn't finish second was the fact that our 2 best midfielders got themselves banned from the last few games. Had either played we would have got the point we needed in one of the games. - by Lurking Yid - 05/16/2016 09:24AM
Nonsense. We started collapsing with them in the team, see the west brom game. We collapsed because we have a very small squad bereft of quality beyond the first 11 and the management of that squad in games and especially in training was piss poor. - by Balham - 05/16/2016 09:29AM
I thought the first half v WBA we played some incredible football, never got the 2nd and that was that. nt - by NTY - 05/16/2016 09:34AM
All that matters are results mate. To me that second half we looked ****ed and we had nothing to offer once they equalised. - by Balham - 05/16/2016 09:36AM
so we blame ali and dembele then becuase both bans was for stupid things - by .TC. - 05/16/2016 09:26AM
Some of us did say earlier on in the season we were walking a tightrope with regard to our discipline. I thought it'd be for picking up too many yellow cards actually, but it just manifested itself in a team lacking discipline in the end. (nt) - by MisterT - 05/16/2016 09:34AM
I'm sorry but that's *******s. We were playing a side who had already been relegated then who went down to 10 men. We should have managed a point in that game playing the academy side - by Dougal - 05/16/2016 09:26AM
The men at power at Spurs clearly thought that our squad was good enough so we should've beaten them even with Alli and Dembele out(nt) - by Yourconscience - 05/16/2016 09:27AM
I dont see 60m net being enough to be honest mate. The players of the calibre we require are going to start at about 20m and we need at least 3 if not 4. We might get back in about 15 from sales but unless we sell ones we dont want to, cant see a lot more than there. Might get lucky I guess with a surprise a la Alli but by same token, for every one of him there are plently of Stambouli's out there. We need to be shopping at Selfridges not Asda this summer and need to do it before the end of season sale too. I will buy you a stein in Munich. - by MarkP - 05/16/2016 09:23AM
Had Walker stayed on we'd have won, of that I'm sure. They'd caught us on the break several times down that side, and Walker is of course our fastest defender. Obviously he must have been injured but ****ing hell, we only needed a point against 10 men. - by Dougal - 05/16/2016 09:22AM
Unless we're planning to buy yet more players 'for the future' that £60M isnt going to be enough to land the 5 we need of the necessary quality to go in the CL and the league. (nt) - by MisterT - 05/16/2016 09:22AM
certainly need a few more experienced players. Although i am not sure we can get them if we only sign under 27's : ) - by jimmy hotspur - 05/16/2016 09:21AM

Why not play Rose? Any word on that? And the papers are always quite off the mark with the transfer kittys so £60m probably is probably half that in the real world(nt) - by Yourconscience - 05/16/2016 09:20AM

Stoke away was probably one of the best and most complete away performances that I have seen in recent years from a Spurs team. Just a pity that we fell apart after that nt - by MacNamarasBand - 05/16/2016 10:21AM

"Together with Nato the European Community, now Union, has helped to deliver a period of peace and prosperity for its people as long as any since the days of the Antonine emporers" ... that was in his 2014 book ... it's almost like he chops & changes as it suits just in pursuit of power - by gdp - 05/16/2016 10:14AM

Yes it is. I've really really enjoyed this season. The football has been exhilarating at times and there is something wonderful about watching this team develop. If I'm critical I think we handled the cups badly, the striker situation poorly and the last 2 games have been disappointing. These are things they already know and will address. I'm excited for the summer, for next season, for CL football. I'm worried about the first 4 games with no Moussa. This place sucks. nt - by NTY - 05/16/2016 10:08AM

The stat on the bbc about us and Leicester using the least number of players throughout the season is very significant. Quite simply we don't have the squad to be able to make a push in the league, cups and Europe. Even more so with Poch's high energy style of football. Weren't the Southampton fans saying their team used to tail off at the end of the season as the players were ****ed, mentally and physically? - by Bongoman - 05/16/2016 10:23AM
did you see the motd commentator from our match didnt even mention the dive for the pen, if it wasnt for the fact there was an ex spurs player as a pundit i doubt they would have mentioned it at all - by .TC. - 05/16/2016 10:34AM
    Well we lost 5-1 - by Dougal - 05/16/2016 10:56AM
If you're going to play as we do, you need a big squad and proper quality on the bench. I think that Pochettino's methods can work but it's going to require a fair amount of investment. He needs to be able to rotate and for that he needs squad players he can rely on. At the moment we have Son, N'Jie and Chadli who all basically do the same thing, then we have Mason, Carroll and Bentaleb who aren't really very good - by Dougal - 05/16/2016 10:29AM
You're intimating that his methods have not worked this season? nt - by NTY - 05/16/2016 10:31AM
haha, they haven't worked mate? it was a piss weak league that offered us a once in a lifetime opportunity and we limp into third and we had to chuck all three cups to do that? - by Balham - 05/16/2016 10:35AM
Well we disagree then. I'd have taken 3rd at the off. I'd have probably laughed at you if you offered it, but I'd have taken it. You can paint the doomsday picture however which way you want. We choked up 2nd place and fell to 3rd. It's not like choking up 4th and coming 5th. nt - by NTY - 05/16/2016 10:38AM
leicester won the league mate. we limped into the season's end behind them and the vermin we'd spent the season taunting. those are facts, not painting anything. expectations change as the season pans out. if united and chelsea are out of the top 4 then of course we ought to finish up there. - by Balham - 05/16/2016 10:49AM
Everyone would have taken 3rd at the beginning of the season. It's as simple as that. - by Glassy - 05/16/2016 10:46AM
Yes of course. That doesnt mean we cant adjust our ambitions as the season progresses though? - by MarkP - 05/16/2016 10:47AM
But that also doesn't mean its justified to go absolutely ****ing mental when those ambitions aren't met - by JonnieB - 05/16/2016 10:54AM
You're wrong. We just got hammered by a relegated side 5-1, who were reduced to 10 men for the final 30mins. The consequences of that defeat meant we finished below Arse*al for the 21st season running after being above them for some 3 months or so. How the **** do you expect people to just shrug their shoulders and go 'oh well, nevermind' given the majority of us are now subjected to the relentless mocking and pisstaking from friends and colleagues? It's a ****ing embarresment. (nt) - by MisterT - 05/16/2016 10:58AM
It's ****ing rubbish but it doesn't mean that everything is a complete disaster and we should take to sackcloth and ashes - by JonnieB thinks we're a pretty good football club - 05/16/2016 11:01AM
Im not sure I've gone mental about it? Im very disappointed how we have finished on a very damp squib but my concern now is how we remedy our shortcomings? - by MarkP - 05/16/2016 10:57AM
    I didn't mean you - by JonnieB means Dougal - 05/16/2016 11:00AM
I just wanted to finish above Arsenal - by Dougal - 05/16/2016 11:19AM
They worked very well until they didn't. Then the wheels fell off. - by MFV - 05/16/2016 10:34AM
Won nothing, bottled key matches, end of season collapse. Only thing he's done different is qualify for the CL, and we've both agreed this is a weak league - it's not a ringing endorsment in my opinion. (nt) - by MisterT - 05/16/2016 10:34AM
was definitely worth throwing the cups for anyway. - by Balham thinks either domestic cup was absolutely winnable for us this season and would have taken that and finishing lower than 3rd all day every day - 05/16/2016 10:28AM
We got more points than anyone else in the league in the 2nd half of the season. This 'tails off' thing is a bit of a red herring IMO. We smashed United and Stoke out of sight and then had plenty of rest. We just lost out on the title and the players lost focus for the last 2 games. nt - by NTY - 05/16/2016 10:25AM
I remember teams saying we were like animals and that we were the toughest team they played...yet the way we played against West Brom, Southampton and Newcastle, it seemed like I was watching Spurs of old. We just looked lethargic and I think mentally, they were shot. We needed to be able to mix it up during the season and bring others into the team for the cups and Europa league. As T said, when Kane is off his game, the team don't respond. Kane has played so much this season, its hardly surprising that he couldn't perform in the last few games. - by Bongoman - 05/16/2016 10:32AM
Agree there. Although I think it was more to do with losing Dembele than anything else. Mentality certainly. They were shot, perhaps understandably. nt - by NTY - 05/16/2016 10:40AM
we drew a third of our games mate. 16 points from the final 11 games. demonstrably his methods of training don't work with the squad he has. without huge investment and proper rotation it still won't work. - by Balham - 05/16/2016 10:30AM
We had a poor start too. What did we get from our first 11 games? I'm not suggesting that this season has been 'sensational' because we've performed meekly in the cups and fell short on a title bid that was winnable. However we've achieved a top 4 finish which was from most sane observers not on the cards last August. His methods have worked. Spurs have improved in points and league position and performance. We now must improve again. He's had what, one full season with a 'proper' squad? nt - by NTY - 05/16/2016 10:34AM
It's been an ok season. He is an ok manager, nothing more. I'd give him another year on the proviso that we spend a ****ing fortune and do so in plenty of time for pre season. Anything else and it is the same again. As it is year in year out, the small man has a huge summer ahead of him. - by Balham - 05/16/2016 10:38AM
I think you are wrong on Poch. He'll be the first manager Levy has appointed that will leave us for something better. nt - by NTY - 05/16/2016 10:43AM
What about the final third of the season? (nt) - by MisterT - 05/16/2016 10:28AM
8th in the form table on our last 10 games. (nt) - by MisterT answering for you - 05/16/2016 10:32AM
But 1st if you add in the 9 games before that? We ****ed up the last 4 games. I think as Poch said it was more to do with mentality than fitness or tactics or ability. nt - by NTY - 05/16/2016 10:35AM
We went mental when Redknapp threw away a 10 point lead on Arse*al, we threw away a 7 point lead (8 if you include the superior goal difference) under Poch. For all the positivity talked about mid-season today feels like deja-vu. (nt) - by MisterT - 05/16/2016 10:38AM
Yes I agree there. The only difference is that under HR we lost the bragging rights and the prize. Under Poch we'd already secured the prize and just lost the bragging rights. nt - by NTY - 05/16/2016 10:44AM
lost focus in the chelsea and west brom game - by jimmy hotspur - 05/16/2016 10:27AM
Agree. In different ways, but agree. V WBA we battered them and started showboating a bit and got punished. Chelsea we had beaten them and the game was won and we got caught up in thier games and fell right into the trap. It's naive stuff. The folly of youth. Also, if I'm ultra critical Hugo as captain is not ideal. Cant really take it off him either. nt - by NTY - 05/16/2016 10:29AM
i really cant see anyone else who can do the job as captain. none of them seem to have the personality. - by jimmy hotspur - 05/16/2016 10:31AM
I think Harry has but he doesn't need the extra grief. Maybe Alds? Maybe Dier? One shout from left field might be Rose. He's been Spurs for a long time and I suspect (dont know for sure) that he has a strong will to win. nt - by NTY - 05/16/2016 10:46AM

This is actually very, very close to the true hatred between both sets of fans.

Very similar demographics, and the knowledge that but for growing up a couple of miles away you would have been "them".
