You got the whole package yesterday from Dear Leader

He threw in the old classics: Straw men easily knocked down, stunning arrogance coupled with false self-deprecation.. veiled threats .. misstating the opposing view so that it seems either 1) Racist 2) Xenophobic 3) Homophobic 4) Archaic ... In this case you got a healthy dose of 2) and 4) with a "smidgen" of 1). 1) is always involved with the unspoken but insinuated reference HR has always cultivated which is " If you disagree with me you're a racist. "

Then he topped it off with another classic -- When questioned, Hey, he's just a humble guy with an opinion and you should welcome a "healthy debate" . Something he has never ever tolerated.

Fun, isn't it? Especially with the finger wagging.

How far back do you have to go to find a worser POTUS? Hoover? Andrew Johnson?

He really is nausiatingly condescending and patronising, but trades on his "effortlessly cool" persona.

Surprised he wasn't called on his explanation for taking Churchill's bust out of the Oval Office. He said there wasn't much room in there, and he preferred to have one of Martin Luther King. If he'd just left it there then fine, his prerogative, but oh no, he had to add the reason he wanted old Winnie's bust to shuffle off to the boot room was because it was kind of appropriate for the first president of Afro/American origin. In other words, explicitly saying his choice was influenced by race. He really is the epitome of hypocrisy.

I'm far from Barry's biggest fan but wasnt that moved before he even took office and, well for that matter, is it that much of a big deal?

There is a link to the current debate. It was just about the same time when he was saying the French (not the Brits) were the Americans oldest friends. It kind of disqualifies all the sycophantic babble he is now coming up with as our "friend" to try and persuade us to do what isn't good for us.

Only some sort of simpleton would think we are their biggest friend, or they ours. Our biggest friends are those in europe. The US's biggest are China, who have underwritten so much of their debts it's scary.

We all trot all that old ****e out when we're trying to convince people to do something. Nobody believes it really.

I still dont get why Churchill's bust is such a big deal, we'd finished the war debt deal Churchill negotaited for the US anyway.

Only some sort of simpleton would believe that the French and the Germans (who have consistently been trying to invade or otherwise dominate us for 1,000 years) are our biggest friends. The cultural and linguistic links with the US, our way life and our legal system mean there is much more in common between UK and US than, say, UK and Moldova.
